| Title: Exo-skeletal knee brace |
Abstract: A London based company has developed an exo-skeletal knee brace. The two main markets are medical devices and sports. The end user would be any individual that would require a knee brace for protection of the knee as protection or during participation. The London company is looking to jointly develop the technology with a company. |
Description: The function of knee bracing is to protect the knee from further injury or help prevent potential injuries to the knee. The technology developed by a London company is patented and allows the brace to mimic the action of the knee; this is done by offloading stresses on the knee, which allows exercise rehabilitation times to be cut considerably.
Innovative Aspects: There are presently no other products that can protect and yet allow complete freedom of movement and in some cases can enhance sporting performance rather than impair it. The company has already spent 3 million euros and has been the winner of a prestigious award: 2000 Millennium Award for theBest of British Engineering and Design for the New Millennium. |
